Wick
How to choose a tealight wick?
A tealight is a narrow cup; it wants a thin cotton or a ready-made tealight wick. A heavy size overflows and smokes. The wick follows the diameter, not the kilo. Soya Wax 50 ~51–55°C, tip ~5 mm.
-
Measure the diameter
The inner diameter of a tealight is small. A wide container's size is not copied. A ready-made tealight wick or the thinnest thread.
-
Pour
Soya Wax 50 double boiler ~51–55°C. Fill without overflowing. A heavy wick overflows the pool and leaves smoke and soot.
-
Burn test
Wait 24 hours. Tip ~5 mm. If the flame overheats the cup, go one size thinner.
Wooden tealight
Wood mm is thick for most tealights. Cotton is a thin thread. The wood/cotton guide is separate.
Smoking
If a tealight smokes, the wick is long or stayed heavy. The smoking guide is separate.
