Wick
How to attach a candle wick?
The wick is stuck to the base and held taut from above by a holder. A shifted tip causes tunneling and soot. For double wicks, use equal spacing. Pour Soya Wax 50 or paraffin afterwards.
-
Stick the base
Stick the wick foot exactly in the center of the container. For double wicks, place the two points at equal distances.
-
Pull it taut with a holder
A bridge across the opening keeps the wick upright. For a wooden wick, use a clip or a weight. It must not shift during the pour.
-
Pour and trim
Pour the wax. Once it sets, remove the holder and trim the wick to ~5 mm. The first burn is covered in its own guide.
Size
Choose the thread by diameter before attaching it. A wrong size causes tunneling or soot even if it is attached well.
Ready-made containers
Some containers have a hole and a screw. Follow the SKU note; the holder still centers the wick.
FAQs
Can the wick be attached afterwards?
In a container, before the pour. In molds it is sometimes pierced after cooling; for silicone work it is stretched beforehand.
What adhesive?
A wick sticker or a drop of wax. Hot adhesive damages a silicone mold.
