Wick
What is a candle wick holder?
A wick holder keeps the wick in the middle of the container during the pour. It can be a wooden stick, a metal clip or a 3D holder. A shifted wick causes tunneling and soot.
-
Glue the base
Glue the wick base to the middle of the container. For a double wick, place the two points at equal spacing.
-
Lock the top with the holder
The holder or stick bridges the mouth; the wick is tensioned and does not drift sideways. For a wooden wick, use a clip or a weight.
-
Trim when cooled
Once the wax sets, remove the holder. Trim the wick ~5 mm. On the first burn the pool should reach the edge.
Why it is needed
Liquid wax pushes the wick. When the center drifts, there is tunneling, and soot on one side. A holder is a cheap jig; in series pouring in a workshop it is essential.
Method without a holder
Two sticks and a rubber band also do the job. What matters is tension and the center. Buy the wick and holder SKUs in the catalog together.
FAQs
Is the holder burned?
No. It is a pouring jig; remove it once cooled. The part that burns is the wick.
Can a wooden wick have a holder?
Yes. A clip or a weight is needed so the wood does not shift; the soaking guide is separate.
