Wick
How to make double wick candles?
As the diameter grows, a single thick wick soots. Two thin-to-medium sizes, equal spacing and a shared melt pool burn cleaner. Soya Wax 50 container; the burn test settles it.
-
Place the wicks
Glue the two wicks to the base at an equal distance from the edge and from each other. Tension them from above with a holder. Three wicks in very wide containers are tested separately.
-
Pour the wax
Melt Soya Wax 50 in a double boiler at ~51–55°C. Add the fragrance after the heat at 6–10%. Pour; do not let the wicks shift.
-
Cure and burn test
Wait 24 hours, and trim the wicks ~5 mm. The two flames should merge in one pool; if a wall of wax remains at the edge, narrow the spacing or go up one wick size.
Two medium instead of one thick
A single firm wick produces mushrooming and soot. Two medium sizes spread the heat. With a wooden wick, two sticks follow the same rule.
Fragrance and scent
A wider pool spreads scent; do not take the load above the oil saturation. Weak scent is in a separate guide.
