Blend
Can soy wax and paraffin be mixed?
Mixing is possible; the result is neither fully soy nor fully paraffin. Temperature and wick change. If a ready soy-paraffin base exists, use that SKU's instructions.
Why mix
Workshops sometimes want the scent retention of soy and the mold hardness of paraffin together. A mix by eye at home sets differently every time. In series work, write down the weight, percentage and pouring temperature.
The temperature trap
Soya Wax 50 melts in the 51–55°C band. The high heat used to melt paraffin can spoil the soy part. Lock the mixture to a single target temperature; do not apply an 80°C rule for every wax. The wick may shift to a different size than for pure soy.
When not to mix
If you make a 100% soy/vegetable claim, do not add paraffin. Do not mix with gel candle either. If a ready balanced base exists in the catalog, take it instead of a lab-style mix.
FAQs
What should the mixing ratio be?
There is no single correct percentage. Start paraffin-heavy for molds and soy-heavy for containers; lock each ratio with a burn test.
Is stearin added too?
In a paraffin-heavy mold mix, stearin is a separate hardness additive. Do not change all three materials at once in the first trial.
