Problem
What is soy wax frosting?
Frosting is matte white crystals on the soy surface or at the glass edge. It is not a leak. Sudden cooling and dark dye make it more visible. It is common in Soya Wax 50 container soy and does not spoil burning.
Difference from a wet spot
A wet spot is a shiny patch where the wax pulls away from the glass. Frosting is a frozen crystal texture. Neither is a leak. They are covered in separate guides.
How to reduce it
Do not take the pouring temperature far above the Soya Wax 50 band (melting ~51–55°C). A draft-free room and slow cooling. Dark dye makes the crystals more visible; try less pigment or a light tone. Do not use a fridge.
What to say when selling
It can be noted as a natural soy characteristic. It should not be sold as a defect, but it is not a bad wax either. Sinkholes and soot are separate recipe errors.
FAQs
Is a frosted candle defective?
No. It is cosmetic. If the wick and scent are fine, it can be burned.
Does paraffin frost?
Typical soy crystals are rare in paraffin. In a blend the risk increases as the soy share rises.
