Problem
Why does a candle sweat?
Oil droplets on the surface are most often the oil saturation being exceeded. In Soya Wax 50 the ceiling averages 8%. A warm store and vanillin scents increase sweating; wiping it off does not fix the recipe.
Load
Weigh the fragrance in grams and do not exceed the 6–10% band. Use oil-based fragrance oil. Water-based/food oil leaks. Dye + fragrance together inflate the total oil; keep granules at ~1%.
Storage and cure
A hot display softens the wax and the oil comes to the surface. Use a cool, upright, closed box. Do not judge the cure before 24 hours; 48 hours to 1 week is for scent and oil to settle.
Sweating vs wet spot
A wet spot is a shiny patch pulling away from the glass, not a leak. Sweating is oily to the touch. Frosting is matte crystal. All three are in separate guides.
FAQs
Can a sweating candle be burned?
Wipe the surface and trim the wick to ~5 mm. If it sweats again, lower the load and pour again; it may drown the flame.
Does paraffin sweat?
Yes, with excess fragrance and heat. Paraffin generally holds firmer, but the saturation still depends on the SKU note.
