Problem
Why does a candle crack?
A crack is stress: a fridge, air conditioning, a damp mold, or a very hot pour + cold glass. Let Soya Wax 50 rest at room temperature, melted in the 51–55°C band.
Cooling
Wax sets from the outside in. A temperature difference tears it. Keep the glass at room temperature; do not use a fridge or deep freezer. The same rule applies to a thick silicone mold.
Pouring temperature
Do not boil Soya Wax 50. A very hot pour shocks the glass. With paraffin, follow the band in the product note. A damp or cold mold invites cracks.
Crack vs tunnel
Tunneling forms during burning (thin wick). A crack is in production cooling. Do not confuse them; tunneling and sinkholes are on separate pages.
FAQs
Can a cracked candle be burned?
A surface crack can usually be burned. If the wick has shifted, re-center it. With a deep split, re-melting is cleaner.
Does stearin reduce cracks?
It firms up paraffin molds. Soya Wax 50 is for containers; every soy-stearin mix needs its own test.
