Scent
What is candle fragrance oil?
Candle fragrance oil is the oil-based fragrance oil that gives wax its scent. Essential oils do not hold up in every recipe. In Soya Wax 50 the ceiling averages 8%; in practice 6–10% is weighed and added after the heat.
Oil-based fragrance
Water-based room sprays and food flavorings are not used in candles; they leak and spoil the flame. The candle fragrance oils in the catalog are oil-based. Vanillin scents can darken the wax; do a small test.
How much
The oil saturation of Soya Wax 50 averages 8%. Below it the scent is weak, above it come sweating and soot. Weigh in grams. Temperature: take it off the heat after the 51–55°C melt and add it. A temperature table is in a separate guide.
Safety note
It is a concentrate; do not apply it to skin or swallow it. On a retail candle, state the scent family. Get legal label text from a lawyer; this explains recipe practice.
FAQs
Is an essential oil a candle fragrance oil?
No. Essential oil can escape thermally or drown the wick. Without a product note, use oil-based candle fragrance.
Does more fragrance smell stronger?
Up to the oil saturation. Beyond it the scent leaks and the flame is spoiled.
