Mold / Container

Container Candle or Molded Candle?

Choose the candle type first; the wax, wick and equipment follow. Container soy and mold paraffin are not interchangeable.

Container candle

A candle burned in glass, a jar or a heat-resistant container. The wick is chosen by the container's inner diameter (mm, not ml). Soya Wax 50 is positioned for this job. Bringing the container to room temperature, or even warming it slightly, before pouring reduces wet spots. Amber glass helps protect scent and color against light. Do not burn candles in mica/plastic packaging that is not marked heat-safe.

Molded candle

Silicone molds offer three-dimensional detail and flexible release; container molds are for form-focused pours. When choosing a mold, check the inner dimensions, estimated wax capacity, wick hole, fine protrusions and the hardness of the base. Soft soy can fill the detail and be squashed on release. Paraffin + optional stearic gives a firmer result in mold work. Do not unmold before it has cooled completely (usually 6–12 hours+ in the mold).

Gel candle note

In clear container decoration, gel candle works at high temperature (well above classic soy/paraffin). Heat-resistant equipment, no unattended heating, and keeping flammable dried flowers or paper away from the wick and melt pool are mandatory.

FAQs

Can soy wax be used in a silicone mold?

Container Soya Wax 50 is not suitable for every mold. For mold work choose paraffin, stearic reinforcement or a base marked for molds, and pour a test.

Do I choose the wick by milliliters?

No. The wick is chosen by the surface width (inner diameter) it has to feed. A tall narrow container and a wide low container of the same volume want different wicks.
